If you havent already seen the dog does photography thing over at kodak its well worth a look – they approve the use of a gorillapod tripod to help your dog stabilise your digital camera and take pictures on the go – set it with a timer and let it go – some of these dog photographs are quite good considering they were literally taken off the back of a dog. With all the videos of the gorillapod out there we thought we would carry on the series. What better to watch than a japanese gameshow – always novel with their television programs this “price is right” style gameshow features a gorillapod where the presenters talk, explain and highlight the gorillapods uses (they have a rock!)
It features a younger audience, and 4 teams who guess how much a gorillapod costs – who needs the price is right when you have the chance to win a gorillapod!
Last post we saw the innovative use of a gorillapod holding a waterproof video camera to a windsurfers frame, but they can be used in so so many ways. Here you can see a truck driver trying out all the possible camera angles while driving using his new gorrilapod.
)He moves the camera around on the gorillapod to allow him to record while he is driving – with the new suction cup feature of the newer gadget gorillapods you could even use a gorillapod for your satnav or similar – its a great driving assistant gadget. Props to the video – a great example of the freedom you get with the gorillapod.
Looking at recent video’s about gorillapod’s on youtube we came across this ingenious use of a gorillapod tripod – to record video while wind surfing, using the gorillapod as a boom mount, gripping it around the handle of the wind surfer.
Its certainly an excellent use of the gorillapod and it proves in yet another scenario the gorillapod will go where no other tripod will. Before the gorrillapod to film yourself windsurfing you would have needed to buy either a specialist expensive camera mount or literally taped the camera to the frame, the latter not being ideal and the first being 10x the cost of a gorillapod for essentially the same camera grip capacity.
Theres been a few posts in the blogosphere this month already about the different uses for a gorillapod tripod, the most recent being a post about how as a climber and hiker there is not a more useful camera accessory than the gorillapod-tripod. Now this got us thinking, for most sports center sports a traditional tripod is probably more useful than a gorillapod, flat floors, tall single surface walls etc mean gorillapod’s are a bit overkill. But having said that could you put a traditional tripod on a basketball hoop or backboard?
So as well as the more extreme sports (Which perhaps need a few cable ties and a gorillapod in tandem to suffice, hiking and other adventurous pursuits also lend excellently to the gorillapod. If anyone has any photographs of the most outlandish place they have used the gorillapod please us know, we would love to show a few examples.
